Blast furnace

BACK TO HOME

Longer running times and shorter down-times for repairs or new linings mean that specific solutions are more and more frequently required for the refractory lining of blast furnace stacks and casthouses. As a consequence, a balanced ratio of SiC to carbon is just as important in a successful material as selection of the right type of bond or the type of lining. This is why Refratechnik Steel provides concepts tailored to suit the requirements of any particular section of runner and to take account of latest developments. Whether the product involved is rapidly heatable Hydrobond castable, non-cement-bonded Nanobond jetcast concrete for hot repairs or high-quality synthetic raw materials developed in-house – Refratechnik is always taking innovative and highly successful technical and economic approaches.

Our range of castables, gunning mixes, granulates for ramming, products for jetcasting and pre-shaped blocks mean we know
the solutions our customers need.
Blast Furnace Stack
CO atmosphere, alkaline attack and mechanical erosion affect the refractories.
New lining and manual repairs:
dense shotcrete products (REFRAJETCAST® LC)
self-flowing back-filling (REFRASELFCAST®).
Hot repair with robotic shooter:
gunning (REFRAJET®)
cement-free shotcreting (REFRAJETCAST Nanobond®)
Start-up protection (manual or with robotic shooter):
gunning (REFRAJET®)

Main Runner
High secureness safety lining (REFRACAST®, pre-shaped blocks) and slag resistant wear lining with quick drying properties (REFRACAST Hydrobond®) complete a carefully adjusted lining concept together with our repair gunites (REFRAJET®) and ramming mass (REFRARAM®).
Slag Runner
Pre-shaped blocks or applied in situ: Our high-SiC castables (REFRACAST®) show superior performances. Also still often used: high-SiC ramming masses (REFRARAM®).

Pig Iron Runner
Our castables with quick drying properties (REFRACAST Hydrobond®) as well as our ramming masses (REFRARAM®) meet the requirements of this secondary runner.

Tilting Runner
Besides mechanical erosion, thermal shock is the main wearing mechanism. Our castables with quick drying properties (REFRACAST Hydrobond®) have been modified to manage these conditions.
