    Research & development

    Our refractory think tank.

Research and development – these two terms stand for our central business areas and represent the essential driving forces of our company.

Thanks to extensive basic research, the Refratechnik Group has acquired unique competence in this field.

Refractory materials are essential for the production of cement, lime, ceramics, iron, steel, aluminium, and non-ferrous metals.
    Research and development centers
    Continents
From raw materials to refractory products and up to complex refractory concepts – our successful basic research is based on in-depth knowledge of the relevant process technologies of the user industries as well as expertise in refractory technology and its widespread scientific foundations.

Base on the comprehensive know-how of our research teams, and thanks to our advanced technical measuring equipment that meet all the demands of modern engineering, we are able to determine all relevant parameters and subject them to detailed individual analyses. Hereby, the latest chemical, mineralogical and microscopy techniques are applied together with elaborate methods using the most modern measuring instruments to determine refractoriness under load (differential), creep under pressure, hot modulus of rupture, and modulus of elasticity at high temperatures. For example, material properties are investigated at normal ambient temperatures as well as high temperatures. In this way, and based on scientific fundamentals, we develop solutions for today's and future requirements.

In five own research and development centers in Göttingen, Bendorf, Melle, Calgary, and Zibo, we create individual products and concepts that are matched precisely to the requirements of the respective application.

As the most innovative company in this field, our aim is to continue setting new standards for the future.
